Our history

Originally recognized as Tradewater Bend, Dawson Springs earned its official incorporation in 1832, bearing the name 'Dawson City' thanks to the efforts of the Menser brothers. From the late 1800s until the 1930s, Dawson Springs flourished as a renowned spa and resort destination. During the spring season, a steady stream of visitors flocked from cities like Chicago, Louisville, and points further east to partake in the therapeutic waters. The New Century Hotel

In the early 1900s, this community's hotel played a pivotal role as a host for a diverse array of events. Serving as the temporary residence for visiting teams such as the Louisville Colonels and the Pittsburgh Pirates during their training sessions, it became an integral part of their work conditioning programs. Moreover, the hotel served as the central hub for three National Fox Hunts, solidifying its reputation as a versatile and historic venue.
